MADRID, March 31 (KUNA) -- The Spanish Ministry of Health on Tuesday announced a fresh record with 849 fatalities from the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) and 9,222 more infections.
This brings the European country's overall death toll to 8,189, and total infections to 94,417, the ministry said in an online statement.
The latest hike came following just a day in which the number of deaths had fallen slightly.
Furthermore, 49,243 virus patients are still receiving medication in hospitals, while a total 19,259 sufferers have recovered, according to the Ministry of Health.
Spanish authorities have already built 16 field hospitals in order to receive the growing number of people infected by this contagious disease, with the World Health Organization (WHO) saying that the epidemic has almost reached a peak in Spain. (end)
