S. Korea reports 105 new virus cases to total 9,583

TOKYO, March 29 (KUNA) -- South Korea reported 105 new cases of the coronavirus Sunday, bringing the nation's total to 9,583, as imported cases continue to rise, according to Yonhap News Agency.
The death toll rose by eight to 152, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. Of the new infection cases, 41 involved entrants from overseas -- 23 from Europe, 14 from the Americas and four from unidentified Asian countries, the public health agency said.
Amid the steady inflow of virus cases from overseas, Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said Sunday that South Korea will enforce a two-week mandatory coronavirus quarantine for all entrants from overseas starting Wednesday, regardless of their nationality.
"The government has strengthened quarantine measures on entrants from Europe and the US, but considering the unprecedented speed the virus is spreading globally, we need additional measures," Chung was quoted as saying during a government meeting on COVID-19. (end) mk.mt
