Bahrain cancels Friday prayers as of March 20 until further notice

MANAMA, March 19 (KUNA) -- Bahrain announced Thursday halt of Friday sermons and prayers nationwide as of tomorrow Friday until further notice, but mosques would remain open for the five daily prayers.
Sunni Awqaf Department said in a statement, cited by the official BNA news agency, said the decision was in harmony with the government's preventive measures against coronavirus to curb its spread.
All Friday prayers will be cancelled as of March 20 until further notice, it said.
Five daily prayers will continued to be performed in mosques, it added.
Bahrain announced earlier number of people who recovered from COVID-19 reached 100. (end) hmd.bs
