Kuwait urges citizens in Britain wishing to return home to contact embassy

LONDON, March 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Embassy in London called on Kuwaiti nationals in Britain and have return tickets to contact the embassy to facilitate their return.
The Embassy, acting upon instructions of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to help bring back Kuwaiti citizens, is joining hands with Kuwait Airways to facilitate return of Kuwaitis as soon as possible, the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
Kuwaiti citizens wishing to return back to Kuwait should contact the Consular Section at: (020-7590-3400) starting today Thursday, in order to register their names.
The timing of the first flight will be announced once the embassy confirm number of citizens wishing to return, said the embassy.
Kuwait Government decided in an extraordinary meeting yesterday to suspend commercial flights at Kuwait International Airport as of midnight Friday, March 13.
The government made an exception for Kuwaiti citizens and first-degree relatives to return back home.
The measure, part of other steps, aimed at addressing spread of coronavirus. (end) kd.bs
