Trump nominates Ratcliffe as intelligence chief

WASHINGTON, Feb 28 (KUNA) -- US President Donald J. Trump said Friday he is reappointing John Ratcliffe, a Republican lawmaker from Texas, as Director of National Intelligence (DNI).
"I am pleased to announce the nomination of Congressman John Ratcliffe to be DNI," Trump wrote in a Tweet. "Would have completed process earlier, but John wanted to wait until after IG Report was finished. John is an outstanding man of great talent," he added.
President Trump had first nominated Ratcliffe as replacement to Dan Coats who resigned his post in last July. But the Congressman withdrew his nomination after lawmakers from both parties cast doubts on his qualification. (end) rsr.gb
