Deaths due to coronavirus in Iran reaches 26 people

TEHRAN, Feb 27 (KUNA) -- Deaths due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Iran went up to 26 people, while confirmed cases reached 245 individuals, said Iranian health authorities Thursday.
According to the state-run agency IRNA, Kianoush Jahanpour -- Iranian Health Ministry for public relations director -- confirmed the new numbers in a press conference.
Earlier on, Iranian parliamentarian from Qum, Motaba Zonnour, revealed that he had contracted the coronavirus (COVID-19) after medical results concerning his case came out.
The virus is said to have first appeared last year in a seafood market in Wuhan, central China. The market is believed to have sold animals illegally. (end) nw.gta
