WASHINGTON, Feb 25 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo congratulated Tuesday Kuwait on its 59th National Day and 29th Liberation Day.
"On behalf of the American people, I offer best wishes and congratulations to all Kuwaitis on your National and Liberation Day," Pompeo said in a statement.
He noted that 29 years ago, "our countries fought together to liberate Kuwait during the Gulf War."
"Today, our strategic partnership is a source of strength, stability, and peace in the Gulf," he added.
"From the men and women of our armed services working together to build peace in the region, to the thousands of Kuwaiti students pursuing their education in the United States, the friendship between our countries continues to grow," the US top diplomat remarked. (end)
