Germany alarmed due to coronavirus spread

BERLIN, Feb 24 (KUNA) -- German Minister of Health Jens Spahn on Monday expressed his government's concern after coronavirus "spread to Europe." In a statement, the minister indicated that the appearance of the contagious disease in northern Italy would prompt the Germany authorities to be prepared for its spillover to the country.
The virus "has arrived in Europe," thus "we ought to forecast its spread in Germany too," he said.
His remarks came after Italian authorities declared lockdown on 11 towns and 50,000 people in the regions where the disease appeared.
Italy has reported more than 130 cases, including four fatalities, due to the fatal virus. (end) anj.rk
