Chinese legislators' annual assembly delayed

KUWAIT, Feb 24 (KUNA) -- The permanent committee of China's National People's Congress, the nation highest legislative body, on Monday approved adjourning the congress annual session due on March 5.
The decision was taken against backdrop of the spreading contagious disease, coronavirus (COVID-19). A date for the next session would be set later, according to the Chinese news agency Xinhua.
The news agency also reported that the commission endorsed a bill imposing total ban on trade in wild animals.
Some wild animals are suspected of being the origin of the deadly virus that has claimed scores of lives in and outside China.
Meanwhile, the municipality in Wuhan, where the virus first broke out, declared persons who are not permanent residents of the city who have been quarantined since month a ago would be allowed to leave the city if they carried no symptoms of the disease. (end) mab.rk
