Senator Sanders wins Nevada caucuses, leads Democratic nomination race

WASHINGTON, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- Senator Bernie Sanders was the big winner at the Nevada caucuses, making him a clear frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination.
According to projections, Sanders won 46.2 percent of the votes, scoring in 30 delegates.
In second place came former Vice President Joe Biden with 23.6 percent and former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg in third place with 13.9 percent. In his victory speech, Sanders said, "In Nevada we've just put together a multigenerational, multiracial coalition, which is going to not only win in Nevada, it's going to sweep this country." This is Sanders second consecutive victory following his win in the New Hampshire primary earlier this month. He and Buttigieg tied for first place in the Iowa caucuses.
According to reports, turnout was high, with more than 75,000 participating in early caucuses.
The biggest challenge for the candidates is Super Tuesday on March 3 as the states make about one-third of all delegates to be allocated, with Texas and California being the biggest delegates on Super Tuesday.
On his part, President Donald Trump tweeted that "Looks like... Bernie is doing well in the Great State of Nevada. Biden and the rest look weak... Congratulations Bernie, and don't let them take it away from you!" (end) si.gta
