KUWAIT, Feb 17 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's top lawmaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim said on Monday he expected parliament in its forthcoming session to settle on a social insurance law that caters to the needs of retirees.
"It is incumbent upon us to assist our retired citizens through effective legislation that does not undermine the Public Institution for Social Security," Al-Ghanim told the press.
On the agenda for a pair of parliament sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, Al-Ghanim said it includes discussions over a draft bill concerning the use of French-made Caracal aircrafts, as requested by a number of lawmakers.
He went on to congratulate a trio of newly appointed ministers on their positions as part of a Kuwaiti cabinet reshuffle, including Barak Al-Shaitan as Minister of Finance, Mohammad Boushehri as Minister of Electricity and Water, in addition to Mariam Al-Aqeel as Minister of State for Economic Affairs.
