US warns against travel to China due to coronavirus outbreak

WASHINGTON, Jan 28 (KUNA) -- The US Department of State raised its Travel Advisory for China from Level two to Level three, calling on its citizens to "reconsider travel" due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
"Reconsider travel to China due to novel coronavirus first identified in Wuhan, China. Some areas have increased risk," the Department of State warned in a statement Monday evening.
"Do not travel to Hubei province, China due to novel coronavirus first identified in Wuhan, China," raising the advisory to level four.
It noted that the Department of State "ordered the departure of all non-emergency US personnel and their family members.
"The US government has limited ability to provide emergency services to US citizens in Hubei province," it added.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also issued a "Level three Warning: Avoid all nonessential travel to China," Chinese authorities are imposing quarantines and restricting travel throughout the country.
There are five confirmed coronavirus cases in four states across the US so far. (end) si.ag
