1962 -- Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah opens Kuwait's first Constituent Assembly, which he said would place the foundation stone of the ruling system in the country. The Assembly held its final session on January 15, 1963.
1993 -- Khairan Resort reopens following a massive KD four million renovation in the wake of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, a sum reflecting size of damage the Iraqis had done to this seaside facility.
2004 -- Al-Qurain Martyrs Museum opens to be a living memory on steadfastness of the Kuwaiti people and resistance against the Iraqi occupiers.
2008 -- The Public Authority for Applied Education and Training opens its construction training center in Sabahiya, which can contain 1,400 students.
2009 -- The World Bank opens an office in Kuwait.
2012 -- Kuwait national team wins Kuwait's international athletics games for the disabled, winning 15 gold, 23 silver and 21 bronze medals.
2015 -- Ministry of Commerce and Industry closes daily Al-Watan Newspaper because it failed to abide by the ministry's laws.
2016 -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society opens a water recycling and distribution station in Bekaa, eastern Lebanon, to help the Syrian refugees. (end) mbm.bs
