WASHINGTON, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- At least two police officers were killed in a shooting on Sunday in the city of Honolulu, in Hawaii.
The CNN reported that the suspect in the shooting apparently set a home on fire on Hibiscus Drive area.
"I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the two officers as well as the entire Honolulu Police Department," Mayor of Honolulu, Hawaii, Kirk Caldwell tweeted.
"This is an unprecedented tragedy for not only the City and County of Honolulu but the entire state of Hawaii."
He pointed out that more details about the circumstances around this horrific event are coming to light.
"Our hearts go out to the first responders who are on the scene as this event unfolds."
Meanwhile, Honolulu Police announced that the area of Hibicus Dr. and connecting streets are closed down due to police investigation. (end)
