1969 -- The constituent general assembly of the National Union of Kuwaiti Students (NUKS) -- Kuwait University branch -- held its first session, during which its by-law was endorsed and nine administration members were elected.
1991 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah made an address marking start of military operations to liberate Kuwait, saying "With the dawn of Thursday, the Second of Rajab, signs of victory loomed, justice overwhelmed darkness and repelled hegemony." 1999 -- Kuwait was accepted as an observer at the international disarmament conference held in Geneva.
2002 -- Abdulaziz Hussein Cultural Library was opened in Mishref.
2009 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated the Arab Economic, Social and Development Summit in Kuwait, during which he declared a donation of USD 500 million to fund Arab enterprises.
2009 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah announced a donation of USD 34 million for the UN agency that cares for Palestinian refugees, the UNRWA, during the Arab Economic, Social and Development Summit in Kuwait.
2014 -- National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim was named chairman of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union.
2014 -- General Assembly of the Asian Olympic Council granted the Kuwaitis Khaled Al-Hamad and Yousef Al-Shahin the council medal for their role in launching the Kuwaiti sports and youth movement.
2016 -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) inked an accord with Turkey according to which it would grant Ankara USD 20 million to help in relieving Syrian refugees.
2017 -- Kuwait opened the first school for displaced Iraqis in Irbil, as part of the "Kuwait By Your Side" campaign. (end) mbm.ag
