Young Kuwaiti dental researcher named Mideast's best

KUWAIT, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) has named an up-and-coming Kuwaiti physician as the best young researcher in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Dental Assistant Dr. Fawaz Al-Zaabi has received a "first of its kind" award given to mark the IADR's centennial anniversary, said Dr. Adel Al-Asfour, the dean of Kuwait University's faculty of dentistry.
He congratulated the fledgling Kuwaiti dentist on his accolade, saying it is a testament to the quality of Kuwait University's school of dentistry, which has produced a bevy of "world-class" academics, he said.
Al-Zaabi, who bested a quartet of researchers for the award, thanked Kuwait University for the support, saying his achievement would not have been possible without the school's help. (end) asa.nam
