Erdogan scheduled to partake in Berlin talks on Libya

ANKARA, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Berlin on January 19 to attend the Summit on Libya upon German Chancellor Angela Merkelآ’s invitation, Turkish Presidency Directorate of Communications (press office) said in a statement on Saturday.
The official statement said the Turkish Presidency had exerted intensive diplomatic efforts for holding the summit talks in Berlin.
Turkey has supported from "the very beginning" efforts exerted to ensure that attacks against the internationally legitimate Government of National Accord in Libya are stopped, a durable ceasefire is established and a lasting political solution adopted by Libyans is achieved under auspices of the United Nations, it said.
It is envisaged that views will be exchanged with regard to steps required to be taken to establish peace and stability in Libya soon and that concrete steps will be taken towards this end at the summit, the presidency statement added.
Top leaders of 12 States are scheduled to partake in the Germany-hosted talks on the Libyan issue.
Among the participants will be the five permanent member States of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), four international organizations and leaders from the main warring parties in Libya. (end) rs.rk
