Trump appoints Senate trial counsel team

WASHINGTON, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- The United States President Donald J. Trump announced his Senate trial counsel team led by Counsel to the President Pat Cipollone and Jay Alan Sekulow, the White house said in a statement early Saturday.
Among the team formed by Trump includes Former Solicitor General of the United States, Former Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and Former Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr, professor in Harvard Law School Alan Dershowitz and Special Advisor to the President and Former Attorney General of Florida Pam Bondi.
As well as, Private Counsel to the President Jane Serene Raskin and lawyers Eric D. Herschmann and Robert Ray.
The White House stated, "Trump has done nothing wrong and is confident that this team will defend him, the voters, and our democracy from this baseless, illegitimate impeachment." Chief of Justice John Roberts and senate members on Thursday started the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump over abuse of power and obstruction of justice. (end) rsr.gaa
