1964 -- Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah participates in the first Arab Summit held in Cairo, Egypt, on January 13-17.
1991 -- Iraqi forces executes 31-year-old Kuwaiti woman Asrar Al-Qabandi, who resisted the Iraqi troops because of their occupation of the State of Kuwait.
2002 -- Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) announces new crude oil discovery in Al-Manaqeesh field, 65 kilometers southern Kuwait city. The new field can produce 960,700 barrels per day (bpd).
2004 -- Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signs a decree appointing Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as deputy head of Kuwait National Guard.
2013 -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) finances construction of roads in Yemen with USD 50 million, aimed at facilitating transportation in rural areas.
2016 -- Kuwait National Assembly, or parliament, approves a draft law allowing the government to withdraw three billion Kuwaiti dinars (KD) from the general reserve to boost the country's defensive capabilities for 10 years.
2018 -- Kuwait Amir's 7th International Shooting Championship begins in Kuwait with participation of elite 39 Arab and Western shooters. (end) bs
