Tebboune proclaimed President of Algeria

ALGEIRS, Dec 16 (KUNA) -- Abdelmadjid Tebboune won 58.13 percent of votes in the December 12 elections, thus becoming President of the Republic of Algeria, Chairman of the Constitutional Council Kamel Fenniche said Monday.
Announcing the final results of the vote, Fenniche said the presidential hopeful Abdelkader Bengrina came second with 17.37 percent of votes, followed by Ali Benflis - 10.55 percent, Azzedine Mihoubi - 7.28 percent, and Abdelaziz Belaid - 6.67 percent.
On Friday, December 13, the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE) announced that Tebboune won a comfortable majority of votes and therefore there is no need of run-off. (end) mr.rj.gb
