Tories to win overall majority in UK elections - exit poll

LONDON, Dec. 12 (KUNA) -- The ruling Conservative Party poses for getting an overall majority in the parliamentary elections, an exit poll has shown.
The Tories are expected to secure 368 seats out of 650, according to the exit poll conducted by Ipsos Mori at 144 polling stations, with 22,790 interviews for the BBC, ITV and Sky News.
It also forecast that the Labour Party would get 191 seats, the Liberal Democratic Party 13, the Brexit Party none and the SNP 55.
The survey suggested that the Green Party would have one MP and Plaid Cymru will lose one seat for a total of three.
Accorrding to the BBC, the first election results are due before midnight, with the final total expected to be known by Friday lunchtime.
Approximately 46 million eligible voters cast their ballots on Thursday in the country's third general election in less than five years.
The vote was held in 650 constituencies across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The electoral process, the first to be held in December in nearly 100 years, follows those in 2015 and 2017. (end) mrn.ibi
