NEW YORK, Dec 12 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait stressed that it was important to protect the rights of those affected by war crimes and genocide, said a Kuwaiti diplomat late Wednesday.
This came during Kuwait's participation in the UNSC session on the mechanism created to finish the work of the international tribunals for Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia.
Delivering Kuwait's statement, diplomat Tahani Al-Nasser said that her country commended the expeditious pace of the mechanism's work as well as the Prosecutor's efforts to locate and arrest remaining fugitives.
She called on relevant international organizations and Member States to help strengthen the Mechanism.
The mechanism is facing many challenges and the international community must commit to providing it with full assistance, she added. (end) asf.gta
