Iraqi Pres. calls on protesters, political parties to select new PM

BAGHDAD, Dec 10 (KUNA) - Iraqi President Barham Saleh on Tuesday called on the anti-government protesters and political parties to select a new prime minister replacing the resigned Adel Abbdelmahdi.
This came in a statement by Saleh on the anniversary of the victory over the so-called Islamic State (IS) in Iraq.
"I call you as well as the political parties to cooperate to select a new prime minister and to form a new government," said Saleh to the protesters.
President Saleh expressed hope that the new government manages to resolve the country's problems and rebuild the associations to reach what the Iraqi people deserve.
According to the Iraqi constitution, president Saleh is obliged to present the largest parliamentary bloc's candidate to the Parliament in less than 15 days after the former government resignation. (end) ahh.aa
