US House Democrats unveil two articles of impeachment against Trump

WASHINGTON, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- US House Democrats unveiled Tuesday two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.
At a news conference, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other House committee chairmen announced the articles on "abuse of power and obstruction of Congress." Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Jerry Nadler said "today in service to our duty to the Constitution and our country, the House committee introduces two articles impeachment charging Donald Trump with committing high crimes and misdemeanors." "No one, not even the President, is above the law," he stressed.
Furthermore, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff said "the evidence is overwhelming" and "we will defend the constitution. Our oath means something to us." For her part, Pelosi said "the President used the power of his office against a foreign country to corrupt our upcoming elections. He is a continuing threat to our democracy and national security." The Judiciary Committee is expected to vote on the articles on Thursday and the full House is expected to vote next week.
Meanwhile, Trump tweeted earlier today "to Impeach a President who has proven through results, including producing perhaps the strongest economy in our country's history, to have one of the most successful presidencies ever, and most importantly, who has done NOTHING wrong, is sheer Political Madness!"
