King Salman congratulates Kuwait's Al-Hajraf on GCC top post

RIYADH, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- GCC leaders and their representatives started the Supreme Council 40th session at Ad Dareyah Palace in Riyadh on Tuesday.
The summit was inaugurated by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, who delivered a speech where he congratulated Kuwait's Nayef Al-Hajraf on being appointed as the next GCC secretary general.
The Saudi monarch then addressed Iran's "aggressive actions to undermine safety and stability of the region, as well as supporting terrorism," which requires (us) to preserve (our) countries' and peoples' gains and work with the international community to seriously deal with Iran's nuclear program and ballistic missiles system in a bid to secure safety of the Gulf's maritime routes.
As for the Palestinian cause, King Salman reaffirmed the GCC's supportive stance towards the Palestinian people of establishing their own independent state with East Jerusalem as capital.
King Salman concluded by valuing efforts of the Yemeni government and other parties signatories of the Riyadh agreement that stressed a political solution to the armed conflict. (pickup previous) mdm.amn.hb
