US airstrike kills one "terrorist" in Somalia -- Africom

WASHINGTON, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- The US military conducted Monday an airstrike targeting "al-Shabaab terrorists" in the vicinity of Saakow town, south Somalia, US Africa Command (Africom) announced.
"Initial assessment concluded the airstrike killed one terrorist," Africom said in a statement, adding, "We currently assess no civilians were injured or killed as a result of this airstrike." For his part, deputy director of operations of the command Miguel Castellanos affirmed the US continues "to work closely with our Somali partners to take decisive action to weed out terrorists who wish to do harm to the Somali people."
