Mass strike erupts in Hebron city, protesting occupation policies

RAMALLAH, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- Al-Khalil City (Hebron), in southern West Bank, witnessed a massive strike Monday against occupation policies as the Palestinian group Fatah called on citizens to go to Ibrahimi Mosque in order to perform noon prayer.
Eyewitnesses told KUNA that the strike occurred in various facilities, which led to the closing of commercial stores and the disruption of work in institutions.
Fatah movement said in a press statement that the strike they called for coincided with the anniversary of the 1987 Stone Intifada outbreak.
The movement stated that what was taking place in Hebron on part of Israel was an attempt to change historical facts.
Defense Minister Naftali Bennett announced last week the establishment of a new settlement in the wholesale market in Hebron, days after statements of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in which he considered that the settlements are legitimate and do not violate international law.
International law considers settlement in the territories occupied in 1967 illegal and destroys the two-state solution. (end) nq.lr
