Baghdad operations commander replaced

BAGHDAD, Dec 8 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi government on Sunday assigned Maj.-Gen. Abdul-Hussein Al-Tamimi the task of Baghdad Operations Commander as a replacement to Lt.-Gen. Qais Al-Hamdawi.
The replacement results from the health condition of the outgoing commander, according to the Iraqi News Agency.
The move comes two days after unknown gunmen attacked a sit-in protest at Al-Khillani Sq. in central Baghdad, killing nearly two dozens of people and wounding scores of others.
Lt.-Gen Al-Hamdawi took over the security file in the capital city of Baghdad on October 23 after Lt.-Gen Jalil Al-Rabi'e was sacked amid protests against rampant corruption. (end) ahh.gb
