ANKARA, Dec 5 (KUNA) -- The Turkish parliament has endorsed a recently signed pact between Turkey and Libya laying out the two countries' maritime boundaries in the eastern Mediterranean.
The pact was backed at the Turkish parliament by the ruling AK party and four opposition parties, the Turkish Anadolu news agency reported.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that the pact would achieve its goals as long as the legitimate Libyan government remained steadfast.
He accused Greece, Cyprus, Egypt and Israel of pressing the European Union to take action against Turkey in this regard.
In Libya, the Presidential Council approved the maritime boundaries pact as well as another agreement for security and military cooperation with Turkey.
On November 27, Turkey and Libya's Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) signed the bilateral memorandum. (end)
