Arabian Gulf Cup: Saudi Arabia down hosts Qatar to reach final vs Bahrain

DOHA, Dec 5 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia will face Bahrain in the Arabian Cup final on Sunday after Abdullah Al-Hamdan's first half effort was enough to seal a 1-0 victory over the hosts Qatar.
Despite their superiority in posession, the hosts failed to make chances pay before solid zonal marking by Herve Renard's men, particularly in the second half.
The match was played at the dazzling newly-inaugurated Al-Janoub Stadium - one of eight 2022 FIFA World Cup match venues.
Saudi Arabia, three-time title holders, will face Bahrain, who hope to win the regionally-popular tournament for the first time.
The Bahrainis have failed to do so throughout the bienniel event's 49-year history, finishing as runners-up on four occassions. (pickup previous) sss.sd
