Ivorian official: lauds Kuwaiti leadership's efforts for int'l peace, security

CAIRO, Dec 5 (KUNA) -- An official from Cote d'Ivoire lauded Thursday the Kuwaiti leadership's efforts to bolster peace and security regionally and internationally, said Assistant Kuwaiti Foreign Minister for Africa Affairs Ambassador Hamad Al-Mash'an.
Speaking to KUNA, Ambassador Al-Mash'an said that this praise came after a meeting with Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Cote d'Ivoire Daouda Diabate in the capital Yamoussoukra.
Diabate affirmed that Kuwait was always behind efforts for peace especially in Africa and particularly in the Sahel region, indicated the Kuwaiti official, adding that the current visit by the Kuwaiti delegation was in implementation of a Memorandum of Understand (MoU) signed in 2018.
The Kuwaiti diplomat indicated that the meeting -- attended by Kuwait's Ambassador to Ghana and non-resident Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire Mohammad Al-Khaldi -- touched on recent happenings and development in the region and the world.
The meeting also touched on the upcoming OIC summit scheduled in Nigeria next year, said Al-Mash'an, adding that the issue of bringing labor from Cote d'Ivoire to work in Kuwait.
The Kuwaiti official called on the Ivoirians to support Kuwait's bid for membership in the Universal Postal Union's (UPU) board during the union's 27th World Congress in Abidjan in 2020.
He also asked Cote d'Ivoire to backup Kuwait's bid for membership in United Nations Human Rights Council in 2021-2023. (end) ms.gta
