Trump thanks Pakistani PM's "support" for hostages' recovery - WH

WASHINGTON, Nov 22 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump spoke late Thursday with Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan, during which he thanked him for "support" for the recovery of American hostage Kevin King and Australian hostage Timothy Weeks.


White House Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere said in a statement that Trump hopes this "positive development will contribute to furthering the peace process in Afghanistan."

The two leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the trade relationship between the two countries "which is on track to set a new record this year, as well as investment and people-to-people ties between our countries.

" On Tuesday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement that Taliban have indicated that the release of the two professors "is intended as a goodwill gesture, which the United States welcomes".
