Three defendants sentenced to jail in Turkey for US Embassy shooting

ANKARA, Nov 21 (KUNA) -- Ankara High Criminal Court on Thursday sentenced to prison three defendants for involvement in the drive-by shooting attack on the US Embassy on August 20, 2018.
Ahmet Celikten, Osman Gundas and Ersin Bayram, were given jail terms ranging between 45 months and 127 months, Turkey's Anadolu Agency (AA) reported, citing judicial sources.
Bayram was sentenced to nine years, four months and 15 days for being a member of a terror organization, committing hostile act against a foreign state that would harm political relations and possessing unlicensed firearm.
Gundas received 10 years and seven months on the same charges, while Celikten will spend three years and nine months in prison, according to the sources.
Talip Bora Kilic, the owner of the vehicle allegedly used in attack, was acquitted. (end) rs.gb
