UNIFIL records rise in Israeli violations of Lebanon's sovereignty

BEIRUT, Nov 21 (KUNA) -- UN Interim Force in Lebanon's Commander Major General Stefano Del Col said Thursday peacekeepers have recorded a rise in Israeli violations of Lebanon's airspace this week, with low-altitutde sorties causing panic among public.
He was quoted by the official news agency as saying "violations of the Lebanese sovereignty and (UNSC) resolution 1701 are increasing tension, particularly because these Israeli sorties are carried out on low altitutde which undermine our efforts to build trust of public of a secure and stable environment in southern Lebanon." Del Col said he lodged a strongly-worded complaint with the Israeli army, demanding immediate halt of violations in compliance with UNSC resolution 1701 and in respect of the Lebanese sovereignty.
