ASBU strongly condemns Israeli decision to ban Palestinian TV

TUNIS, Nov 21 (KUNA) -- Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) strongly condemned on Thursday Israel's decision to ban a Palestinian television, which broadcast in occupied Jerusalem, warning that the move violates international law.
In a statement, the union said that it was following with deep concern the unjust Israeli decision, which targeted the Palestinian General Authority for Radio and Television, and the ban to activities of Palestine TV in Jerusalem.
ASBU noted that the so-called Israel's Minister of Internal Security, Gilad Erdan, attempted to conceal Israel's crimes and impose control over Jerusalem away from world attention and world television cameras.
The Union expressed its full support to its member body (Palestine broadcasting authority) in this difficult situation, and strongly condemns the decision to ban such activities, stressing that this decision is a political one under the pretext and claims that it is for security reasons.
ASBU also stressed that the Israeli decision represents an attack on freedom of expression and freedom of the press. (end) ksg.mb
