Saudi Arabia rejects US position on Jewish settlements

RIYADH, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia rebuffed the US Administration's position to consider Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank legal and not in violation of international law.
Israel's construction of settlements is in breach of UN resolutions and international law, and is a stumbling block against peace, stability and the two-state solution, a foreign ministry source was quoted by official SPA news agency as saying.
He was reacting to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who said two days against that "after carefully studying all sides of the legal debate, this administration agrees... the establishment of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank is not, per se, inconsistent with international law." Achieving lasting peace will only be maintained if the Palestinian people obtained their full rights in line with UN resolutions and Arab peace initiative. (end) mdm.bs
