KUWAIT, Nov 18 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti grappler Aqeel Boskhar won a gold medal at the North America Grappling Association's (NAGA) championship held in New Jersey, US.
In a phone conversation with KUNA, Boskhar -- who competed in the purple belt category -- said that he was the sole Arab grappler in the tournament gathering some 500 grapplers from all around the world.
The Kuwaiti Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) practitioner had competed in several BJJ competition around the globe, winning several medals and accolades.
Boskhar affirmed he would continue to represent Kuwait in various tournaments to improve his BJJ skills and record.
BJJ is a grappling material developed from Japanese Jujitsu and Judo in Brazil as a self-defense discipline.
BJJ first found foot in Kuwait by 1999 and is practiced by men and women alike. (end) aab.gta
