Iraqi forces break up protests near Shuhada Bridge - activists

BAGHDAD, Nov 17 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi forces on Sunday dispersed tens of protesters near Al-Shuhada (Martyrs) Bridge before heading to the Prime Minister's office, Iraqi activists said.
They told KUNA, the security forces have used tear gas to disperse tens of protesters who intended to cross the bridge that leads to the Prime Minister's office and governmental establishments.
They pointed out that a number of protesters have suffocated and were treated on the spot with no need to transfer them to hospitals.
A number of bridges were blocked earlier by the security forces due to on-going protests, where protesters wanted to cross bridges of Sinak, Jamhouriyya (Republic), along with Al-Shuhada (Martyrs) and Al-Ahrar, toward Al-Karah which Leads to the heavily-fortified Green Zone, the official government TV, and the Prime Minister office.
