WASHINGTON, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met Thursday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud during which they discussed bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern.
State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said in a statement that Pompeo thanked the Saudi Foreign Minister for his country's "continued partnership and for its leadership in facilitating the Riyadh Agreement" signed on November 5 between the Government of Yemen and the Southern Transition Council.
The statement added that Pompeo and Prince Faisal "agreed that this was an important step towards achieving a comprehensive political solution in Yemen and an end to the war."
Pompeo and his Saudi counterpart also discussed "the need to counter the Iranian regime's destabilizing behavior," in addition to "other regional developments including in Turkey and Syria." (end)
