Facebook blocks millions of fake accounts

WASHINGTON, Nov 13 (KUNA) -- The administration of Facebook announced Wednesday that it has blocked more than five million fake accounts since the start of this year.
Announcing the November 2019 Edition of Community Standards Enforcement Report, Facebook Vice President for Integrity Guy Rosen said, "Our detection technology helps us block millions of attempts to create fake accounts every day and detect millions more often within minutes after creation." "Over the past two quarters, we have improved our ability to detect and block attempts to create fake, abusive accounts. "We can estimate that every day, we prevent millions of attempts to create fake accounts using these detection systems.
"Prevalence for fake accounts continues to be estimated at approximately five percent of our worldwide monthly active users (MAU) on Facebook," Rosen pointed out.
"We may disable Instagram or Facebook accounts for repeat or severe violations. "In general, both Facebook and Instagram share policies, meaning that if content or behavior is considered violating on Facebook, it is also considered violating on Instagram," he added. (end) asj.gb
