Pompeo thanks Qatar for partnership, cooperation

WASHINGTON, Nov 12 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held a meeting on Tuesday with Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani during which he thanked him for Qatar's "partnership and cooperation on a range of issues." State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said in a statement that Pompeo and his Qatari counterpart discussed "the importance of a united Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to counter regional instability." The statement added that they also discussed other bilateral and regional issues, "including recent developments in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon." (end) si.gb
