Yemeni gov't: People pin high hopes on Riyadh agreement

JEDDAH, Nov 4 (KUNA) -- Yemeni people are pining high hopes on the Riyadh power-sharing agreement with the Southern Transitional Council to complete restoration of the state, end the Houthi militia's coup, the Yemeni government said on Monday.
The agreement strengthens Yemeni people's unity in countering the Iranian scheme, completing restoration of the state and ending the Houthi coup, the government said in a press statement following an extraordinary meeting in Riyadh today. It expressed gratitude to the Saudi government for its strenuous and sincere efforts to reach this deal and contain the events in Aden.
On Friday, Yemeni Information Minister Information Minister Muammar Al-Iryani announced Friday that the Riyadh agreement between the Yemeni government and the southern transitional council will be inked on Tuesday under the patronage of the Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The Saudi-brokered deal stipulates the formation of a new national unity government within 45 days made up of 24 ministers, half of them from northern governorates and the other from southern governorates.
It stipulates restructuring of military and security forces in the southern governorates.
Moreover, a joint commission -- to be headed by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition - will be formed to oversee the implementation of deal provisions. (end) nsa.ibi
