Kuwait celebrates Amir comeback after recuperation in US, large portrait decorates city center

(roundup) KUWAIT, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- Tunes of Kuwait National Anthem are echoing across alleys of Kuwait's top traditional market, Al-Mubarakiya, where a huge portrait has been erected to celebrate comeback of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from the United States of America where he had undergone successful medical checkups and recuperated.
The market, located in the heart of the capital and renowned for stores of traditional handicraft and aromatic products, is ornamented with a huge portrait of His Highness the Amir. The grand portrait, placed at Al-Gharbally market within the spacious bazaar, is captioned, "A message of faithfulness and love" from the people of Kuwait, namely the organizers from Kuwait Municipality.
Moreover, the organizers are distributing photos of the Amir and unleashing a huge balloon decorated with his portrait, amid tunes of the National Anthem, echoing across the bazaar alleys.
His Highness the Amir returned home earlier on Wednesday from the US where he underwent successful medical checkups. The pleasant event triggered a torrent of expressions of joy and relief by leaders and ordinary citizens.
Throughout the day since breaking the news, Kuwaitis namely officials and eminent personalities have expressed deep relief, affirming allegiance and faithfulness to His Highness the Amir who has successfully led the country amid diverse regional challenges and disturbances.
Top among the congratulators was His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who addressed a cable to His Highness expressing pleasure and thanking His Almighty for His Highness the Amir's return after the successful medical checkups in the US. His Highness the Crown Prince expressed on behalf of Kuwaiti citizens and residents best wishes and felicitations to His Highness the Amir.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received a letter of congratulations from National Assembly (Parliament) Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim and members of the parliament on his return. In the letter, the Parliament Speaker greeted His Highness, on behalf of himself and all MPs, expressing sincere sentiments of happiness over his return after successfully completing his "medical journey" in the United States, asking Almighty Allah to grant him with everlasting health so he may continue with his wise leadership of Kuwait and the loyal people.
His Highness the Amir received a cable of congratulations from His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah upon his safe arrival. His Highness the Amir sent in response a cable to His Highness the Prime Minister, appreciating the sincere and genuine feelings His Highness the Prime Minister and cabinet Ministers expressed.
He also got a letter from Chief of Kuwait's National Guard His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, welcoming him back home after having underwent medical checkups in the US. The National Guard is ecstatic over His Highness the Amir's safe return to the country after his "successful medical checkups allayed all of our concerns over his wellbeing," he wrote in his letter.
Another letter was addressed to His Highness by His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on his comeback after completing the medical examination in the US. His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed wished His Highness the Amir good health so he may carry on with "his blessed march of serving our beloved country and pushing forward the Process of development, progress and prosperity." The joy of Kuwaiti people on the return of His Highness the Amir from the US represents their loyalty to their leader, said Director General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah in a statement, noting that Kuwaiti people deeply appreciate His Highness Sheikh Sabah's great achievements and wise leadership. His Highness the Amir also won big love of his people by exerting great efforts to develop all sectors in Kuwait, build strong foreign relations and adopting neutral political views in resolving different issues in the region and around the world, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij stated.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior opted to express its joy in tangible action, announcing a decision to release all police members held for discipline cases, on the happy occasion. In a statement, the ministry said the decision was issued by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lieutenant General Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah on His Highness the Amir's safe return.
Other identical cables were addressed to His Highness the Amir from Deputy Premier and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh, Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Dr. Jenan Ramadhan, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Fahad Al-Shula and Minister of Justice and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Mohammad Al-Afasi.
