Tokyo stocks hit 10-month high on Wall Street gains

TOKYO, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- Tokyo stocks extended their winning streak for a fourth straight session Wednesday, with a key index ending at a fresh 10-month high buoyed by overnight gains on Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) advanced 265.71 points, or 1.20 percent, from Tuesday to 22,472.92, its highest finish since December 3. The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index, which includes all shares on the market's First Section on the TSE, was also up 11.31 points, or 0.70 percent, to 1,631.51.
On Tuesday, major US benchmarks jumped higher, including the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 index on expectations for third-quarter corporate earnings results. Investor sentiment was also boosted by a partial trade deal between the US and China last week. (end) mk.mb
