AMMAN, Oct 14 (KUNA) -- Attorney general of Jordan's state security court on Monday accused four football fans of harming ties with a friendly country after chanting anti-Kuwait slogans during a match held between the two countries last Thursday.
Amer Al-Daradeka, the attorney general, ordered keeping the defendants 15 days in custody pending the trial, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.
The Kuwait-Jordan game, which was held as part of the World Cup and Asia Cup qualifications in Amman stadium, witnessed "irresponsible and offending" chants against Kuwait and its team from some Jordanian fans.
Earlier today, several Jordanian dignitaries visited Kuwait's embassy in Amman to denounce the behavior of Jordanian fans and stressed the depth or relations between Kuwait and Jordan.
They rejected any attempts aiming to abuse Kuwait and its people, voicing their pride for the deep-rooted ties with Kuwait.
A few days ago, Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah phoned his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Al-Safadi to convey Kuwait's dismay by Jordanian fans anti-Kuwaiti chants during Jordan's showdown with Kuwait in Amman Thursday. (end)
