WASHINGTON, Oct 4 (KUNA) -- The Department of State announced Friday that its Rewards for Justice (RFJ) Program is offering a reward of up to USD 5 million for information leading to the identification or location of Adnan Abu Walid al-Sahrawi, the leader of the "terrorist" organization Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (IS-GS).
The IS-GS claimed responsibility for the October 2017 ambush of a joint US-Nigerien patrol in Niger during which four US soldiers were killed.
The Department of State said in a statement that RFJ is also offering a reward of up to USD five million "for information leading to the arrest or conviction in any country of any individual who committed, conspired to commit, or aided or abetted in the commission of the 2017 ambush in Niger."
IS-GS is a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization and its leader, Abu Walid, has been designated a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. (end)
