Kuwait seeks to host Asia, world weightlifting tourneys

KUWAIT, Sept 21 9KUNA) -- Kuwait Boxing and Weightlifting Federation (KBWF) declared on Saturday that it had verbally requested holding the 2021 Asia tournament and the 2022 world championship in Kuwait.
The federation chair, Talal Al-Jassar, said in a statement that he had addressed the verbal request to his counterparts of the Asian Weightlifting Federation (ASW) and the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) on margins of the IWF Congress, held in Thailand.
The Kuwaiti request was greatly applauded, he said, adding that it would be addressed officially during the forthcoming world championship. (end) fr.rk
