Trump sanctions Iranian National Bank

WASHINGTON, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump announced new Iran sanctions on the Iranian national bank, saying they are "highest sanctions ever imposed on a country." Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office alongside Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Trump stressed that the sanctions go "right to the top." He added that they are "at the highest level of sanctions." For his part, Secretary of Treasury Steve Mnuchin said in remarks at the Oval Office "we are continuing the maximum pressure campaign," on Iran, saying these sanctions are "very big. We have now cut off all source of funds to Iran." Trump said that Iran is "practically broke. They are broke." "They can solve the problem very easily. All they have to do is stop with the terror. They have been the number one country worldwide of terror .. we can't have it," he remarked.
On Wednesday, Trump said he instructed the Secretary of Treasury to "substantially" increase the curbs on Iran. (end) si.rk
