Iran: no intention to hold meeting between Pres. Rouhani, Trump

TEHRAN, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- Iran denied on Monday the intention to hold a meeting between President Hassan Rouhani and the US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings.
"I do not think that such a meeting will take place in New York," said the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affair Abbas Mousavi in a press conference.
"As President Rouhani have said, we don't take photos during meetings, meeting should be held according to agenda and should have concrete results, such speculation does not exist on our agenda", Mousavi added.
As for the visit of Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to New York during the coming days to partake in the 74th meeting of the United Nation General Assembly, Mousavi said, "If circumstances are available, Zarif will accompany President Rouhani during this visit".
In late July, the US Treasury Department imposed economic sanctions on Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif for working for or on behalf of Iran's supreme leader, directly or indirectly. (end) mw.nhq
