Algerian interim Pres. calls for presidential elections Dec. 12

ALGIERS, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- Algerian interim president Abdulqader ben Saleh met Sunday with the electoral authority and set Thursday, December 12, as the date for presidential elections.
Ben Saleh, addressing the nation, said he set December 12 to hold presidential elections.
"It is time that everybody consider the interest of the nation above any other considerations. This is about the future of our country and our sons," he added.
The presidential elections is a strategic objective, added ben Saleh, "and it is the solution that will allow the people to elect the best to lead the country ... and establish a new ruling regime that honors ambitions." He said the presidential elections was a unique opportunities to boost a genuine democracy. (end) mr.bs
